History
In 2019, the Van Dijk Groep celebrated its 50th anniversary
Over five decades, we have evolved from a single insulation company—Unidek—to a strong collective of building and real estate companies, operating under the same vision. Let us take you on our journey.
1969
Hendrik van Dijk founds Unidek, it later becomes Europe’s largest insulation company. Many innovative products are launched every year.
1985
Erik van Dijk, Hendrik van Dijk’s son, is employed during his holidays in Unidek’s production hall: operating machines and carrying EPS.
1985
Madeleine van den Eijnde-van Dijk, Hendrik van Dijk’s daughter, starts working in the warehouse.
1994
The Hendrik van Dijk Foundation is established.
1995
1995 Madeleine joins Unigoed—now VDG Real Estate—as head of real estate management, from this moment on she takes over all operations.
1996
Unidek builds a holiday resort consisting of 263 holiday villas in Hellevoetsluis. The company sells 100 villas, with the remaining 163 being rented out as holiday homes.
2001
The company buys out Havebo — a floor insulation company — entering a new sector of the insulation market.
2005
Picking up on a demand for commercial real estate, Erik van Dijk and Jeroen Verbakel found Unibouw. The first project is VDG De la Roy’s 120 sq m production hall and 200 sq m office.
2007
With a shared love of EPS, the Van Dijk Groep buys shares in VDG De la Roy.
2011
At the age of 66 founder Hendrik van Dijk dies—far too young—due to his ‘Burgundian’ (living life to the fullest) lifestyle.
2016
Unibouw and VDG Property Development start Bouwgrondvinden.nl, offering a complete building and real estate solution
2019
Van Dijk Groep celebrates its 50th anniversary and moves to the new-build head office at Industrieweg 46 in Gemert. Having begun in the area, the family-run business returns to its roots.
